Oxford Research Scholars Project Acceptance—Welcome Amanda Xie!

Congratulations to rising sophomore Amanda Xie for her acceptance into the Oxford Research Scholars program! Beginning in Fall 2021, she and I will begin working on a project to understand job accessibility in the state of Georgia. Traditionally, job accessibility has been measured in terms of then number of available jobs within a certain distance radius of a prospective worker. The greater the number of nearby position openings, the greater the employment opportunities available to that worker. This is shown to have positive effects on income for workers while also reducing localized inequality. Given the economic and social challenges facing Atlanta, understanding job access will be important for fostering more equal economic outcomes. I'm looking forward to starting with Amanda on this project!
